A Wake-Up Call
Imagine this scenario. Last summer, my daughter returned home from Manipal University. It was during this time that I began to notice a concerning pattern - both she and my son had developed a habit of sleeping in the late morning. When I questioned them about this, their response was unexpected. Say, my daughter questioned "What do you want me to do? I have no work; I'm on holiday." Faced with their nonchalant reasoning, I felt uneasy and left her sleeping.
Old vs. New Way of Socialising: Society's Transformation
This observation of their behaviour was a wake up call for us. It suggested that we are presently venturing into the profound changes occurring in modern society. It seemed to be due to the convenience and comforts of contemporary life. This transformation has resulted in an over reliance on feelings-based behaviours. Late-night movie marathons, addiction to social media, excessive gadget use, and a constant connection to technology have all become commonplace occurrences. This is probably because of the way we raise our children, influencing their behaviour and values.
Is It Time for Good-Feeling Behaviour?
We believe that this societal transformation stems from a growing preference for emotions over logic in our decision-making and actions. In other words, instead of prioritising rational thinking, people are increasingly guided by their emotions and desires. People are unaware that logic tends to provide the foundation for controlling our behaviours and choices, which is rather overlooked in this emotional shift. We do not see this as a fair trend.
Why This New Trend? The Role of Change in Behavior
When we try to learn why such social change in today's world, then find that this evolution of behaviour is due to a multitude of factors. Some of these were rapid industry growth, technological advancements, and shifts in the job market. Such growth has opened up the conscience and freeness of people. This of course has made people easy enough to value old values but at the same time.it has checked blocks of creativity to make them more free, open and creative. Further you know that adaptability and creativity are highly prized attributes in today's world.
Remedy: Why not Realise Own Gifts of nature:
Self conscious people are self concerned. Your concern for self may make you realise that like to other living things, Nature has brought all types of powers in you. It is in sense that you just name it, and it's within us. Also that while nature has fully equipped us, it has also thrown challenges on us. So whenever you face a problem. You take it as a problem then you take it as a challenge, apply your resources destroyed by nature and conquer it.

Techniques for Strengthening Your Adult Ego State
You remember, somewhere we talked about how our Adult like behaviours are the need of youths today. Feeling domination creates ease where seriousness dominates. We need both. Given such belief we found some ways or practices for reinventing our Adult power. These are below.
Continuous Learning:
Learning requires application of the power of awareness followed by application of your cognitive abilities. Keep this, see that engaging in education and learning serves as a workout for your logical mind, your Adult ego state. Enrolling in courses, attending lectures, and participating in discussions are some of the known avenues to sharpen your reasoning skills.
Application of Research Methodology:
Similarly, research not only expands your knowledge but also fine-tunes your capacity for critical thinking. Two, by adopting various stages of research, such as hypothesis formulation, literature review, data analysis, and hypothesis testing, you collectively enhance your logical thinking.
Awareness-Raising:
To this, we find other important tools. This power challenges your existing beliefs and habits by fostering self-awareness. For instance, if you're determined to change a habit like procrastination, systematically list its advantages and disadvantages, engage in discussions, and critically assess its impact on your life.
Embracing the Present/ living in here & now:
Your Adult functions in the now & here situation. Your Child ego talks about you past, your Parent ego about what you learned from others and your Adult egos, now & here only. So it is better that you recognize that behaviours rooted in the Adult ego state are fundamentally grounded in the present moment. Problem-solving, decision-making, studying - these are all examples of actions you take in the "here and now."
Technique for Decontaminating Your Adult Ego State
Contamination is the presence of some type of impurities into other substances and so both the constituents miss its purity. Similar is the situation with our Adult ego state. In this case, some part of our Child ego and/or Parent ego gets into Adult ego and vice versa and so, it becomes a source of problems. In the case of us, for example, if some past experiences have triggered fear in you for your boss then you can say this past learning of your Child Part had contaminated your Adult ego and so, when you face your boss then the thought of year merges with your feeling and result is that you fear your boss. Here we say that this merging of your thoughts and feelings is causing communication in you.
In such a case you can handle such a situation by challenging your beliefs ingrained by your parents or early experiences. Here you will be very introspective so that you can understand the reason for trouble and may apply your power of self-questioning. You may need to ask probing questions about the relevance and validity of these beliefs. Say you may ask probing questions like, "Is it still necessary to fear authority figures? Or, Are all those who don't hold this fear are doomed to fail? and so on.
Techniques for Reparenting Your Parent Ego State
You might have experienced by now the role of negative parental inputs from childhood are capable of exerting a lasting influence on our lives. This means that there is a need for the concept of reparenting. Reparenting is a very powerful technique that empowers our Parent ego state for healing our inner child.
In Psychology there is a concept of a wounded child. Really, when we were born, we were vulnerable and relied on our parents for our emotional, psychological, and physical support. Further, sometimes, due to traumatic or immature behaviour from our parents, these needs went unmet, leading to a wounded inner child. This inner child influences our self-perception and adult behaviour, often causing pain and various unwanted patterns.Here one therefore needs to be reparented.
People say that we can Reparent ourselves. Experts talked about the said method of 3 steps. These are these below.
Step 1: Increase Awareness of Your Needs:
This step asks to start by becoming aware of unmet needs stemming from your wounded inner child. Recognize your behavioural patterns, such as a fear of authority figures, and connect with these unmet needs by visioning to the opposite of it or a flood of love and support from your parents. This is your self-awareness preparing for reparenting.
Step 2: Fill in the Gaps:
The reparenting process allows you to heal the wounded inner child in you by giving yourself the love and care you may have missed in childhood. You may achieve this through meditation and visualisation and providing the nurturing and support yourself to your inner child requires. This will need addressing your past pains and offering the care that was lacking then.
Step 3: Designate a Physical Embodiment:
In this final step, designate a physical symbol or embodiment for your inner child's healing. This embodiment represents the support and love your inner child offers you. It's like having a loyal pet that symbolises your inner child's constant love and care.
By applying these techniques, you set forth on a transformative journey of self-discovery and growth. Reconnecting with your Adult ego state, shedding the influences of contamination, and nurturing your inner child through reparenting are all steps toward personal development and a brighter future.
